Sri lanka’s Big Five Games with Nature

Day 01
  • On arrival you will be warmly greeted by our representative with a traditional SriLankan welcome and transferred to Colombo. (Early check-in is on availability basis)
  • COLOMBO - is the business and commercial center and the new capital is Sri Jayawardhanapura Kotte, only a few miles away. Colombo was only a small seaport, which came into prominence in the 16th Century with the arrival of the Portuguese in 1505 and the development of it as a major Harbor took place during the British period. Colombo became the capital of Sri Lanka in 1815 after Kandyan Kingdom was ceded to the British. The remains of the buildings during the period of the Portuguese, Dutch and British rule are found in every area of the city. None of the Portuguese & Dutch fortifications are found today but some of their buildings and churches could be seen in the Fort & Pettah areas. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area where there is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Kayman’s Gate with the Belfry at the original gate to enter the Fort, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhaal dating back to 1749, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple dating to 6th C.B.C., Davatagaha Mosque, Colombo Museum and the Natural History Museum are some of the sites to be visited. Also visit the BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), see the replica of Avukana Buddha in front and the Independence Memorial.

Day 02
  • After breakfast proceed to Sinharaja Rain Forest to experience the Sri Lanka nature, en route stop at any places of interest.
  • SINHARAJA FOREST - Sinharaja can be reached from Colombo through Mathugama (117km) or Ratnapura (154 km) to Kalawana and Weddagala and from there to Kudawa Camp ( 5.6 km ) or from Galle to Deniyaya and Mederpitiya (10km) and walk 3 kms cross Gin-ganga to reach Pitadeniya Camp. The best period to visit the forest is between December to early April or from August to September. “A world heritage site” (1989) covering 11,187 hectares. The vegetation is tropical wet evergreen forest. Out of the 331 woody trees and lianas identified 192 are endemic at Sinharaja. Fauna, recorded in the Sinharaja 65 Butterflies, 10 Fishes, 19 Amphibians, 14 Tetrapods, 29 Reptiles and Snakes, 141 Birds and 40 mammals. Sinharaja is a nature lover’s paradise.

Day 03
  • Enjoy morning and evening private bird watching trek lead by an experienced naturalist guide.

Day 04
  • After breakfast proceed to Udawalawe, evening Jeep safari at Udawalawe National Park.
  • UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK - with an area of 30,821 hectares covers the catchment area of Udawalawe reservoir. With boundaries running into Ratnapura and Monaragala districts at the Southeastern Part of Sri Lanka. Haputale and Kaltota mountain ranges, seen from the park give a picturesque view. It provides a home for displaced animals from Walawe Development Project. Rich in elephant population the park is having an estimated 500 or more elephants. They roam about in herds of 50-100 at times. The park is known to be good breeding grounds, for Baby elephants, guarded by their elders are seen round the year. To see elephants in their natural habitat visitors are advised to travel in Jungle Green vehicles and similar colored clothes. Elephants quickly spot (White and bright colors) Visit Elephant Transit Centre, where orphaned and sick Elephants are cared for until they are able to return to the park.

Day 05
  • Early morning Jeep safari at Udawalawe National Park. Thereafter, proceed to Yala and check-in to the hotel.

Day 06
  • 06:00hrs: Early morning Jeep safari at Yala National Park.
  • YALA (RUHUNA) NATIONAL PARK - the Ruhunu National Park covers 126,786 hectares including the Strict Natural Reserve (Block II). The most familiar is Block I (14,101 hectares) and this block was established in 1938. Yala is famous for its big herds and large number of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. More than 130 bird species are recorded which includes the resident and winter visitors. There are 7 Bungalows inside the Park with few Camp Sites.
  • 15:00hrs: Evening do another Jeep safari at Yala National Park. Overnight at Kithala Resort (Deluxe - HB)
Day 07
  • After breakfast proceed to Mirissa and check-in to the hotel, en route stop at any places of interest.

Day 08
  • 06:30hrs: Early morning do a dolphin & whale watching safari (Duration 03-04 hours).
